Evanston
From an 1850 township to a racecourse suburb
Evanston's name goes back to 1850, when a land speculator named two sections in the Hundred of Munno Para, most likely after his wife. A township plan was lodged in 1853. The racecourse was first used in the early 1880s and the race club began in 1883. Today the suburb, beside Gawler South and Gawler West, has its own railway station and 2,580 residents. Of 1,097 occupied homes in 2021, 68.9% were separate houses and 27.5% semi-detached.
From the street, nobody knows whether an Evanston home sits on old earthenware or newer PVC, and the difference matters. Earthenware is brittle and has many more joints for roots to find, and Adelaide's reactive clay works on rigid pipe as it dries and swells. PVC blocks with fat and wipes instead. We find out what you have, clear it, and quote any repair before we start.
- Not sure how old your drain is? Tell us roughly when the house was built when you book. It tells us which pipe to expect.
- In a semi-detached home, ask the neighbour if their fixtures are slow too. A shared line changes where we start.
- Before winter, clear leaves from gutters and from the grates over stormwater pits, so the first heavy rain has somewhere to go.

Do you clear drains in Evanston?
Yes. We clear blocked drains, run camera inspections and assess pipe repairs for homes across Evanston. Tell us the street when you book.
How soon can you come?
Call us and we book the next attendance window and tell you when it is. If water or sewage is overflowing, say so when you call, and stop running water into that drain until we arrive.
Can you help with a rental property?
Yes. Tell us the owner or property manager who approves the work and the tenant’s contact for access, and we book a time that suits the tenant.
What does it cost to clear a drain?
We confirm the visit charge when you book. Once we’ve found the cause, you get the price of the clearing or the repair before any work starts, so every item is agreed first.
