A young estate on old farmland
Eyre is about 4 km north-west of Elizabeth, framed by Womma, Stebonheath and Petherton roads, with Andrews Road and the Northern Expressway to the west. Settlers cleared this country in the 1850s for crops and grazing. In the 2010s the eastern side of Penfield was developed for housing and sold as Eyre at Penfield, and in October 2017 it became a suburb of its own. In 2021, 98.8% of homes were separate houses and the median age was 28.
