Broadview
A 1918 subdivision astride Regency Road
Broadview sits 6 km north of the city, astride Regency Road, with Hampstead Road on its eastern edge. It was laid out in 1915, and the blocks were subdivided and sold in 1918. Broadview Oval, between Collingrove and McInnes avenues, is its green centre, with a playground, tennis courts and croquet lawns. In 2021, 65.2% of its 1,849 occupied homes were separate houses, 25.5% semi-detached or townhouses and 8.9% flats.
Homes built on lots sold from 1918 onward sit on the suburb's oldest drains, often earthenware. Decades of growth in gardens and street trees send roots to the joints, and Adelaide's reactive clay shifts rigid pipe through each dry summer and wet winter. Renovations and extensions join new pipe to old. We find the cause, clear it, and quote any repair before we start.
- Renovating an older Broadview home? Have the drain checked before the new bathroom goes in, so new PVC joins a sound line.
- Keep big trees and shrubs away from the sewer line. In a line this old, roots head straight for the joints.
- When you book, tell us roughly when the house was built and whether it has been extended. It tells us what pipe to expect.
