Albert Park
A small suburb on old market-garden soil
Albert Park sits about 9 km north-west of the city, on the western side of the Port Road and West Lakes Boulevard intersection. It was laid out in 1877 and advertised for flower and market gardens, on what the sellers called rich alluvial soil. With 1,780 residents in the 2021 Census it is a small suburb: 81.1% separate houses, 55.2% with three bedrooms, and 41.9% of homes owned with a mortgage.
A suburb with that long a history has drains of different ages. Older houses can still drain through earthenware, which is brittle and has more joints than plastic, while newer homes and units run on PVC. Adelaide's reactive soils move with the seasons, working on rigid pipes and joints, and garden trees send roots toward any gap. We clear blockages, inspect lines by camera and quote repairs for owners and landlords alike.
- Bought recently? Ask us to camera the line and trace where it runs, so you know before planting trees or paving the yard.
- Bin fat and wipes rather than washing or flushing them. In older earthenware they catch on roots; in PVC they build up at the bends.
- Tell us when you book whether it's the sewer (toilet, shower, sink) or the stormwater (downpipes, yard pits) that's backing up.
