Drains in Parafield Gardens

Parafield Gardens

Three waves of building south of the Little Para

Parafield Gardens began as land south of the Little Para River, used as an experimental farm and then, from 1911, a poultry farm. The first residential land was offered in 1958, around Salisbury Highway and Shepherdson Road. The Housing Trust built here through the 1970s, and the Pine Lakes Estate followed in the early 2000s near Salisbury Highway and Kings Road. In 2021 it was home to 18,467 people, and 89.3% of homes were separate houses.

Each wave left a different drain. Homes on the 1958 blocks and the 1970s Trust streets sit on earthenware or early PVC lines now 50 years old or more, where roots and Adelaide's shifting clay open the joints. Pine Lakes homes have PVC that blocks with fat and wipes instead. About two in three homes are owner-occupied, by people who want a drain fixed once. We find the cause, then quote the fix.

  • Tell us the rough age of your home when you book. In Parafield Gardens, it points us to earthenware or PVC before we arrive.
  • On the older streets, a drain that keeps slowing has roots in it more often than not. Ask about a camera check rather than clearing it over and over.
  • In a Pine Lakes home, keep fat out of the kitchen sink. It sets in a PVC line and catches everything that follows.
