From the Common up the hills face
Beaumont was laid out in 1848 as a purpose-built village around an English-style common, and Beaumont House dates from about 1850. The suburb later spread south-east towards the hills, and its newer homes sit on the face of the Adelaide Hills, with a moderately steep climb from the Common up to Beaumont House. It's a suburb of family houses: 86.2% of dwellings were separate houses in 2021, and nearly half had four or more bedrooms.
