O'Halloran Hill is about 18 km from the city via Main South Road, on the hills south of the escarpment that rises from the Adelaide Plains. It is split between the Marion and Onkaparinga councils and named after South Australia's first Police Commissioner. The O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park covers 293 hectares, and the old Glenthorne estate became a national park in 2018. In 2021, 91.5% of homes were separate houses, and most had three bedrooms.

On foothills blocks the drains often run downhill, and stormwater moves fast in the winter months, carrying soil and leaves into pits and gullies. Adelaide's reactive clay shrinks in dry summers and swells when it's wet, which opens joints in rigid pipe and lets roots in. We find what's going on in the line, whether it's a blockage, a cracked joint or silted stormwater, and quote the fix.

• After heavy winter rain, lift the stormwater pit grates and check for soil washed off sloping garden beds. Clearing it early keeps the silt out of the pipe.
• If water rises through the overflow gully grate, stop running water inside and call us. The gully is there so a blocked drain overflows outside, not inside the house.
