Where the plain meets the hills

Fairview Park sits where Tea Tree Gully's suburbs meet the base of the Adelaide Hills, with a large golf course running along its southern boundary. It had its own post office from 1965 until 2000, when a new office in Surrey Downs took over. Census night 2021 found a suburb of houses: 99.4% of dwellings, with more than a third offering four or more bedrooms. About 90% are owned outright or mortgaged.

With a post office here since 1965, some Fairview Park houses are old enough for earthenware drains, while later homes run on PVC. Adelaide's reactive clay moves with the seasons, and at the foot of the hills a sloping block sends winter rain quickly to the stormwater pits.
