Daw Park
Two halves either side of Colonel Light Gardens
Daw Park is an odd shape: a small northern piece and a larger southern part, split by a strip of Colonel Light Gardens. The suburb was named in 1953 by the South Australian Housing Trust, after an early settler, and the Repatriation General Hospital was set up here in 1942 on the former Cudmore Estate. The 2021 Census counts 51.4% separate houses, 18.5% semi-detached homes and 29.6% flats, with 32.2% of homes rented.
Housing Trust-era houses commonly drain through earthenware or early PVC, now around 70 years old, and roots from established gardens and the tree-lined streets next door find their joints. Flats and unit groups usually feed one shared line, so a blockage in one home backs up into another. We clear the line, film it when the cause is hidden, and quote the fix, keeping owners, managers and tenants informed.
- In a unit group, tell us which units are affected when you book. If it's more than one, the shared line is the likely spot.
- Landlords and managers: give us the owner or manager who approves the work and the tenant's contact, so access is sorted before we arrive.
- Keep a strainer in the shower and put wipes in the bin. Two-bedroom units here often share a line, and one flat's wipes become everyone's blockage.
